28/01/2019 - With a new theme and new colours, Starwave will soon be running leadership searches for the three clans. We also have worked out a few little bugs too. The joining incentive is going to run from now until the end of February, so instead of bringing one character to copper level, you can still bring two, and their companion as well! You are welcome to break this up as well. So, come join us, and let's see what goes on! With more people, hopefully, we intend to run events and make the site more PvE. Clan leadership will be opened soon too, hopefully!

26/11/2018 - Starwave is ready to go! There are still pieces to flatten, to make better, but its time to open and see how it all goes. Tis exciting to do so! Please feel free to advertise, tell people, etc and let's go. Once a few have joined, the first event will happen which is going to be finding clan leaders! Subforums in those areas are open for claiming too if you'd like them! Excited! Let's have some fun!

23/11/2018 - Much is done! Lands, guidebook is finished, profiles (save for the --> I can't work out what displaying that its driving me insane!) But I'm happy with everything and the progess of whats happening. I have some subforums to add to the clan lands, and then it will be almost ready to go for an opening and a beginning. There will be a SWP very early after opening too!

11/11/2018 - Starwave is underway. This is the first OOC news entry!

28/01/2019 - Starwave has seen quite a few new arrivals, and the clans are stirring. More arrive every day - and some of the Inherent and skeptical, some welcoming and others flat out angry and upset. However, they are accepting and soon, they will be seeking clan leaders - who will they be?

26/11/2018 - The time has come. Starwave's portals are open; the world is pulling newcomers to the shores. What will happen now?

Struggle is an illusion. The tide rises, the tide falls, but the sea is changeless.

Soft little waves brush up against the shore, tiny bubbles kissing the sand as the water draws back. Light glitters on the surface as colours dance, painting a rainbow of reflected sunlight and that of the planet and its rings as the suns have almost set. The portals, scattered about the beach, are still and quiet.

Peace.

And yet, light has begun to swirl in the depths just beyond the rings, subtle at first but gradually growing, growing, growing until the bioluminescence takes over the length of the beach as far as the eye can see. It moves, slowly, rocking back and forth with the ever so subtle lapping water.

Patience.

The glow becomes more obvious as the light of day is replaced with the soft caress of moonlight, and slowly but surely, the strange phenomenon seems to draw itself together into a singular point. The water shifts, rising, pulling this way and that in the air, whirling around and around, faster and faster. Tubes of bioluminescence weave this way and that, overlapping each other until finally, all becomes still.

Silence.

Eyes open as slowly as if it was their first time, ears - two, four... six - all twitch and turn as their ability is tested, nostrils flare and lungs inhale. Lips part and mouth opens, testing both physical function whilst simultaneously tasting the salty air. Calm, relaxing, soothing like a balm. Unused to resuming this form, but not unpleasant when surrounded by that which is known best.

Curiosity.

Legs move, back ones first and then the front, standing from the seated position. Head moves left and then right, ensuring accurate movement whilst observing the new surroundings. Whilst the water itself feels familiar, as all water does, those which call it home are not as familiar here. A little frown creases facial features, but it is not something to worry about; water is home, no matter where it may be.

Water is patient, water can wait.

Steps are taken, but feet remain in the water as they move, the softly glowing creature walking along the shoreline with only the moonlight and the little fish, with ribbon-like tails trapped within, for company.

Calm.

He is not so calm, not at first. It was as if the portalknew that he had been searching, as if whatever magic or science existed in Starwave could sense the desperation in Salem's soul. It had reached into his very mind and plucked out the one person he had been thinking of. How else could you explain his arrival here, in the place his father currently resided. One moment he had been settling down in a shaded glen, tired from his travels and desperate for sleep - watched Tamrion, his closest friend and companion. The white gryfalcon had offered to keep watch, and Salem was more than willing to let him. It was just as Salem was drifting off, eyelids drooping and muscles getting heavy, that the bright light erupted from the other side of the glen. "Salem!" Tam cried out, as the light burst forward, spreading formless tendrils as far as it could, one of which wrapped itself around the dozing stallions leg, dragging him into the portal in the blink of an eye.

After that it was just like waking up, except instead of being surrounded by trees and tall, towering mountains he was on a beach. A beach he did not recognize with a planet in the sky that he did not know."What the-!" He struggles upright, ears pinned to his head, eyes narrowing as he casts his blue gaze down the beach, and then up. It takes him a few moments to adjust, but Salem - who has grown up around magic his entire life - can only grumble out this turn of events. "Fucking typical," He mutters, before heading off down the beach.

He walks for  a few minutes, two - ten? He can't really tell, long enough that he comes upon Mizumi, standing among the waves (although Salem doesn't see it at first). He is too consumed by this new land he has found himself in. When he does drag his eyes from along the beach and back towards the water he wonders how he did not see it until then. It is bright, colourful like a tropical bird (or perhaps a fish would be more exact) although the colours are not garish and reminds Salem very much of the night sky reflected on a bright sea. For a moment he considers walking past, but something stops him. Whoever this creature was they might know where in god's name he was.

"Hey," he calls, moving towards the edge of the water "sorry to interrupt,"  whatever it was you were doing, strange creature, "but do you have any idea where I am?"  He pauses, and then considers how strange the question may be to a local. "I'm new here,"  obviously.

It is in our own power to create the world, or to destroy it.

Mizumi had been playing with the water, making little balls float on the surface and such, when the voice called out. He looks similar to some corals once observed in a now far-off shore, but also offers the impression of a lionfish; at least, that is, in regards to the striping. It's not the first time that a striped land creature has been seen by these eyes, there was the dark one in the lands where this form was made. She also had a horn. Were the two connected? Stripes and horns?

"... any idea?" The words are repeated with a mostly blank yet semi-widened eye expression, as if in thought, "New here... as well." The colourful creature shakes its head in response, offering a response in uncertain words. It had been quite some time since the last interaction with those of the land, or really, anyone at all in this particular form.

Water didn't need to speak.

Still, offering such a minimal response leaves Mizumi feeling at a bit of a loss, not wanting to come across as useless - it's not that being left alone would be a terrible thing, but sometimes it seemed this form needed to interact differently than the creature was used to. A hopeful smile, albeit a small one, spreads across blue lips, "World beyond beach... Unsure what. Explore with me?"

It is unusual for Mizumi to willingly abandon the water, but in prior explorations like in Eternal, there are always strange and unusual water sources to be found inland as well. These legs had moved across land before, and whilst it had been some time since then, they seemed to still function properly... For now, at least.

She (or so Salem assumes a she, due to the tone of her voice) repeats his words in a jagged disjointed sentence, and for a brief moment he wonders if he has made an awful mistake. He is not his father, either of them. He is not even like his brother – not really. The three of them could smile and chat and endear themselves to people in a way that Salem never could. Even those he had considered friends had never really considered him one back. Tamrion had only been his real true friend, all his other bonds had been linked by blood.

Still, he was the son of Lucian and Entia, and his smile is so well practiced that it comes almost effortlessly to his face, only those that knew him before would guess that it is one he has had to repeat over and over again to get right.  She continues, also new here – of course he probably should have thought a bit hard. She was on the same beach he had turned up on, maybe even through the same portal. They were both newcomers, ripped from their last home and placed in this strange world.

He shuffles, and although his smile is still in place his mind ticks. She wasn’t much good to him, she couldn’t tell him what was going on – he probably should find someone who could. But she seemed…nice. Salem was already willing to welcome people like that into his life, even if it was briefly. "Oh of course," he mumbles, faintly dipping his head "how silly of me." She speaks again, drawing their attention to the world beyond the beach, and for a moment Salem follows her gaze. A big world by the looks of it, how surprised he would be to find it full of old memories.

The strangely pretty looking creature offers her company, explore beyond the beach, and moves to exit the shallows, and Salem is drawn to the rest of her. Scaled, and colourful in a way that Salem hadn't really seen before, bright and...wait a moment, is that a fish? Salem can't keep the smile on his face as well as he might have liked, arching a brow and twisting his lips, and resisting the urge to laugh. Not a mean laugh, he means no cruelty by it, it is the laughter of a man that can't believe that even after living in Liridon he can still meet horses that astonish him. "I'd be happy to explore with you."  He stands to the side as if to let her past and onto the sand. "My name is Salem."

Kagayaku Mizumi

It is always interesting to meet these land creatures that this form was made in the image of; no such creatures live within the waters, or at least, not in the exact same form. Similar beings have been encountered, but are typically more sea creature than land. The thought had occured more than once about learning how to transform this body into one of those, purely to see if it were possible, but it was not a simple task.

In fact, Mizumi had been planning such an attempt when the old underwater ruined city had suddenly lit up; attention had been drawn to it, specifically, to the ancient portal with pieces missing that now burst to life in a wirl of vibrant blue. It illuminated the entire city almost (not that there was exactly a lot of it left unburried by sediment), and it began to swirl. Like a vortex it spun, and sucked all manner of nearby things into it. And so, water from another world was introduced to the water of an alien planet, but it was still water.

"Not silly. Didn't know." Mizumi shrugs with a nonchalant smile as Salem steps aside to allow passage onto the sands properly, but a directional nod is offered as indication for him to follow along. Pink and teal eyes turn to look out at the point ahead where the sand vanishes into coloured grass; from what can be seen from this point, at least, it offers the comforting reminder of a coral reef.

Two ears flicker in Salem's direction as he introduces himself, and Mizumi pauses for a moment to try and find the correct words, "Salem... Pleasure to meet you. I have been called Mizumi." So far, it is the most comprehensive sentence the creature of water has managed. The little fish with their long ribbon-like tails swirl about within, as if dancing together in a little burst of pride or joy at the progress made, before they return to their calm, lazy swimming.

Steps are taken, the body moves carefully but purposfully, moving away from the ocean and towards dryer land. A single glance over the shoulder back at the beach is made only when coming to a halt at the top of the small hill that will lead them both into this strange new world, but the glance is brief before the walking resumes.

There is a peacefulness in the air that typically accompanies the night, and in the growing moonlight, Mizumi's entire body begins to emit a soothing bioluminescent glow, helping to illuminate the nearest of their surroundings.

Salem has, in a way, always found himself surrounded by creatures like this - like her. In his youth he had been hard to get along with, sullen and unsmiling - not unfriendly, but certainly not the type to inspire conversation. But Mina had liked him anyway, she had been his friend, and there had always been a long line of horses waiting to befriend him. Maybe it had been because of his status - prince of Ilir had never seemed like much of a title. He had that position because of Entia, it was nothing Salem had done besides being born to the right people at the right time.

Maybe he surrounds himself with creatures like her because he can't see the wonder in the world himself - not always right away. He needs someone else to point it out to him first.  Its a good thing he is exploring with her then, maybe Salem will see the beauty of this place instead of focusing on the fact that he is here without Tamrion, here on his own.

Mizumi she says her name is, and Salem watches as she shifts out of the water entirely. "The pleasures all mine, " The way her colours seem to shimmer is somewhat enticing and he has to draw his eyes away, turning his head so she couldn't see his embarrassment. Here he is, only just meeting this weird creature and already he is staring. Pull yourself together Salem. You have seen people as exotic as her before, and even if the way her soft colours merge and glow does seem appealing there is no reason to stare. Instead he draws his attention along the beach, listening to the waves lap gently against the sand, then across up the grassy bank towards the horizon. "Which way then?" he muses,  "maybe this direction," he motions towards the north, where in the distance the shore fades into what looks like green, but still sticking closer to the water than the cliffs or in-land. SHe would be more comfortable that way, he thinks, a water creature like that? He waits a moment for her to agree (or disagree) before stepping in their chosen direction.  "Did you get sucked into a giant portal as well then?"

Struggle is an illusion. The tide rises, the tide falls, but the sea is changeless.

Little tunes of nothing in particular seem to hum in a lyrical pattern, quiet, yet audible in the silence of the early evening. They are sweet sounds, soft and gentle, like a mother singing to her child to put it to sleep at night, and there is a vast strangeness to it that is not typically associated with the natural vocal range. Amongst the little hums there is a subtle yet unmistakable sound of the rolling of the waves, only, as if they were heard from beneath the surface. The very sound of water itself, free to do as it pleases.

"Hm." The little teal and blue scales seem to give off a little sparkle in the growing moonlight as the head nods in agreement with a little sound of acknowledgement. Honestly, Mizumi didn't mind where they were to go, it was simply nice to have some company. So unused to such a thing shows in the creature's oblivious nature; Salem's staring does not trigger any uncomfortable sensations, and so it remains entirely unnoticed.

The question makes Mizumi's head cock, and a thoughtful expression seems to glaze over those pink and blue eyes for a few moments. The soft humming resumes as the brief memory replays itself; swaying, back and forth, back and forth, rocking with the tide peacefully, focusing on trying to bring this form together in a slightly newer form, something different again... Lights, bright like the sun dancing on the surface, brighter and brighter until the light consumes everything. Then nothing.

Still, calm, quiet.

"Sucked... in... Y-yes. Sort of?" Mizumi's eyes squint at the corners and a strained expression replaces the thoughtful one, the only potential tell to the struggle that there is an attempt being made in trying to formulate the correct words needed to describe what had happened. But it fades as new things on their horizon appear to distract the mind and eyes, and each of the 6 pink ears swivel forwards in attention.

Before them, mostly to the general right direction more than the left, lays what seems to be a swamp; large and small trees alike are scattered about, and the scent of murky water is unmistakable. Little lights seem to glow in the distance. Fireflies? No. Not a creature... Mizumi breaks away from Salem's presence to approach the nearest dark pool, eyes wide in child-like wonder and amazement. The undersides of the willow leaves emit a low bioluminescent white light, and whilst the creature of water noses at the leaves, the immediate vicinity seems to light up with life.

All sorts of swamp life begin to make itself known: little crickets and beetles chirp, tiny turtle noses peak out of the water's surface, and the frogs and toads begin their chorus. A smile, peaceful yet excited, spreads across Mizumi's face as feet touch the edge of the water and seem to almost disappear entirely - not hidden within the murk of the swamp pool, but entirely becoming one with it.

Slowly, to the tune of the creatures and Mizumi's soft humming, the fish trapped within the strange form swim free of their trapped state; as the pair swim together, much akin to Yin and Yang, the water begins to lighten and clear, going from a dark murky brown-and-green to a more acceptable deep blue. The little fish with their long ribbon-like tails leaving trails of soft yellow and white light that illuminates their dance.

The fish return when the creature is satisfied and Mizumi steps out of the water to observe the new scene. The water is a mixture of deep blues with lighter hues here and there, and it is easier to see the bodies of the turtles catching their breath on the surface now, instead of just their little noses; the glowing leaves of the willow trees that kiss the water's surface seem to have absorbed some of the colouring, the tips now blue and teal where they are closest to the water before it fades back into white; little tadpoles gather at the edge of the water where hooves had previously disappeared.

"Better. Temporary, but better."

The words are spoken aloud although they are not directed at Salem, whom Mizumi realises was left behind when the allure of the swamp water had become the focus of attention. A slightly sheepish smile takes to the creature's face as the body turns slightly, eyes glancing about for the dark companion; only, he is not there? It is light enough to see... Oh! The coloured head turns the other way, "Water and light... Is me."
